Art Deco

Mon Mar 24, 2008, 9:34 PM
Howdy howdy!

Well it's been quite awhile since I've been active on here...but I was inspired by several things (all centered around Art Deco posters), enough to create an Art Deco gallery!

I think to sum up what I like about Art Deco is difficult. There was a game that was released more than 6 months back - Bioshock (by 2K Games) and the storyline/plot is based on the art deco era as an underwater city locked in time waiting for a haphazard outsider to chance upon it 50 years later. Of course its a first person shooter so the inhabitents aren't particularly hospitible, however the game is detailed to the nth degree, all in art deco. So this and a modest appreciation of this art style inspired me to go have a potter around Dev.

I spent a good couple of hours browsing and to my delight found some really beautiful art deco styled/inspired works (all of an amazingly high quality).

Unfortunately I don't have a subscription so I can't put any samples in my journal. :(

Go have a look at my faves gallery though!

Melissa.
